Abstract

2010-05-01 to 2011-08-31
To monitor micro-seismicity possibly induced by ice movements, a small network consisting of 4 seismometers (1 bb, 3 Mark) has been installed in August 2010 at the Inylchek glacier in Kirgistan. One digitizer is supposed to record the noise of the ice-movement with a microphone which is co-located with a gps-sensor directly on the ice-dam moving at a velocity of about 30 cm per day. During the winter months a glacier lake is impounded behind the ice-dam. We hope to record seismic signals related to the annual outbreak of this lake which usually occurs in July.
